The Homeownership RFP component of Forgotten Blocks II was a neighborhood revitalization initiative focused on the rehabilitation of 28 vacant homes and the construction of 4 new homes within the Allegheny West section of Philadelphia. The project targeted two areas:
All properties had been vacant prior to redevelopment and were transformed into single-family homes made available for purchase by low- and moderate-income families. The project aimed to stabilize the neighborhood by increasing homeownership, reducing blight, and supporting long-term community investment.
Stone Sherick played a key role in project coordination, strategic planning, and compliance with the Homeownership RFP and HRP funding requirements. Their efforts were instrumental in aligning development activities with city goals, managing relationships with funders, and ensuring that construction and rehab efforts met both program standards and community expectations. Stone Sherick’s involvement also helped streamline the integration of the two funding sources into a unified revitalization strategy.
This initiative contributed to reversing disinvestment in Allegheny West by promoting equitable homeownership and creating high-quality, affordable housing options in historically underserved blocks.
